John Bennett - Sakura Adachi
John Bennett apre nel 1987 uno studio a Milano
specializzato in mobili e product design e il suo
lavoro si concentra sulla ricerca di coniugare
fattori umani, materiali e processi produttivi nel
concept finale. Il suo lavoro è stato esposto e ha
ricevuto premi per “ADI Design Index”, “Design
Plus - Light andBuildingAward”, “GoodDesign”,
The Chicago Athenaeum e “Best of NeoCon
Competition” e Chicago Editor’s Choice Award.
Silver Prize CIFF 2012. Cina MIFF 2016 il premio
Platinum per la migliore categoria di mobile.
L’opera di Sakura è caratterizzata da una
combinazione di approccio concettuale e
artigianalità. Molti dei suoi prodotti sono
auto-comunicanti e sfruttano al meglio l’uso
delle caratteristiche dei materiali. Nel suo
processo di progettazione, hanno importanza
fondamentale la modalità di utilizzo degli oggetti
ed il comportamento delle persone intorno agli
oggetti. I suoi prodotti sono stati selezionati per
il Red Dot Design Award, Archiproducts Best of
2015 e ADI Design Index 2016. È stata docente
all’Istituto Europeo di Design a Milano nel 2012.
Dal 2014 è docente del corso di Industrial
Design all’ISIA di Roma, sede di Pordenone.

In 1987 John Bennett opened a studio in Milano
specialising in furniture and product design
and his work further focussed on the pursuit
of combining human factors, materials and
manufacturing processes in the final concept. His
work has been exhibited and has received awards
for “ADI Design Index”, “Design Plus – Light and
Building Award”, “Good Design”, The Chicago
Athenaeum and “Best of NeoCon Competition”
and Chicago Editor’s Choice Award. Silver Prize
CIFF 2012. China MIFF 2016 the Platinum award
for best office furniture category.
Sakura’s work is characterised by a combination
of conceptual and craftsmanship approaches.
Many of her products are self-communicating,
and make the best out of the characteristics of
materials. In her design process, scenarios of
how objects are used and people’s behaviours
around objects are critical factors. Her products
have been selected for Red Dot Design Award,
Archiproducts Best of 2015 and ADI Design Index
2016 and many others. She taught at Istituto
Europeo di Design Milan in 2012. Since 2014,
she has been a lecturer for the Industrial Design
course at ISIA Roma i n Pordenone, I ta l y.
